Tomb Raider Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

One of the best games of this generation (or should I say “last-gen?” – it feels weird saying that about the PS3 and Xbox 360), Tomb Raider, is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with all new graphics built from the ground up for next-gen consoles.

Kind of like a Game of the Year edition, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition also ships with all the DLC maps and weapons, six outfits for Lara, a digital comic book, and a digital art book.

Square Enix released the first trailer today showing off the new in-game graphics, which I embedded below. Honestly, I can’t really tell the difference, but I blame the YouTube vid, not the graphics themselves. Seeing as how I never owned the last-gen version (I borrowed it) I’m definitely going to be picking up Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition when it comes out on January 28th, 2014.

Well if you didn’t have it before, shelling out $60 bones is fair. I’ll wait till it’s in the bargain bin myself. Maybe by summer it’ll be down to $20? Though it’s rated as one of the best games of it’s generation, I personally think that’s an over statement. I liked Far Cry 3 more. And TR largely abandoning it’s exploration and puzzle solving for a bunch action set pieces and over the top violence… works for some people, but I think it lost a large part of it’s charm. Beat it once, and you’re done with it. My personal opinion on the matter. There are good bits don’t get me wrong.

As for the udpates, looks like her model has been fined tuned, and the lighting has been bumped up a bit.
