First and foremost – This isn’t an ad. Shade (the artist) didn’t contact me and ask me to feature his Kickstarter campaign on NSFW Gamer. Hell, he doesn’t even know I’m doing this.
No, I’m doing this on my own accord because I think Sinsationals looks like it would be a really cool comic. Find out more about Shade’s badass Kickstarter project after the jump.
Not Safe For Work
I’ll just copy and paste the info straight from the Sinsationals’ Kickstarter page below since it seems silly to re-write what Shade already took the time to say, but I will add my two cents why I think it’s deserving of your attention.
Sinsationals is the story of seven extraordinary women from disparate backgrounds that find themselves united in a common goal to keep the peace in a lawless world… and to look absolutely fabulous while doing it. They live in a world where literally anything is possible. Superheroes? Robots? Dragons? Zombies? Talking cat people? Nothing is out of the ordinary because the ordinary is anything but.
The 28-page issue #0 chronicles the origins of each female protagonist as a looming alien threat plots to overtake the planet. The issue will act as the lead-in to a story arc that will see the girls slowly unite to face this common enemy, save the planet and emerge not just as a team, but a family.
In this maiden voyage for Sinsationals, the seven principal characters are shown in their “normal” lives before they are thrust into a new world where they have new roles, new responsibilities and must face new dangers, as well as new possibilities. Beautiful, skilled and deadly, the Sinsationals are a powerful group of women, each harnessing a unique subset of abilities that allow them to thrive in their day jobs as globe-trotting supermodels and uber-celebrities working for SINSATIONAL MODELS, the world’s greatest modeling agency, and even moreso in their unofficial identities as superheroes.
With their strengths, each has unique shortcomings, weaknesses and personal quirks and nuances that the evil alien would-be world overlord, Khuntorra, wants desperately to exploit. Issue #0 focuses on Khuntorra as she considers the beginnings of each member of the Sinsationals: where they came from, how they either found or developed their powers and how they can each be bested.
Admittedly the premise isn’t groundbreaking or anything, but what sets Sinsationals apart from the crowd is Shade’s amazing artwork and the all-female cast. If you’ve been following Shade’s artwork for the past few years then you know he specializes in sexy pinup style artwork and hentai (I even did an interview with him for my hentai site MPL Toons – Link is Not Safe For Work).
While the Sinsationals isn’t going to be X rated or anything, Shade is trying to push it as a hard PG-13 to soft R. I’m totally cool with that. I love cheesecake art and random nip-slips like Erik Larsen used to do with Savage Dragon (I say “used to do” because I haven’t read past issue 110 so I don’t know what the comic is like now). In fact, superheroine nip-slips are my favorite kind of nip-slips. I love when their costumes get torn in battle and a boob pops out. I used to draw that shit all the time, but I digress. I don’t know if Shade will be doing any of that, but with names like Mammazonia, Gyna, and Khuntorra there’s a good chance we’ll see a little something something.
If you like what you see here then definitely check out the Sinsationals Kickstarter campaign. There can never be too many risque comic books on the market in my opinion.
