Raiden Unveiled For MKX At EVO 2014

As promised, Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios unveiled their latest fighter from the upcoming Mortal Kombat X and, as most people suspected, it was Raiden.

I’m not gonna lie, Raiden has always been my absolute least favorite character to use in the game. His move set just does not jive with my play style. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still glad he’s in the game because it wouldn’t feel like Mortal Kombat without Raiden, I just don’t plan on using him a ton. He does have a cool fatality though.

You can check out the Raiden reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat X as well as the IGN interview with Ed Boon about the character after the jump.

I’ll agree that Raiden is hard to utilize, but the worst for me in the 2011 version was Reptile. I loved him in Deadly Alliance, but with the reboot, he wasn’t exactly a zone controller, he wasn’t exactly in-your-face, and he wasn’t exactly a strong ranged player, either. I lost with him in a recent friend’s tourney, and it was the Semi-Finals (random picks). But the new mechanics definitely seem like they’ll lend something to both Raiden and Scalyman. I can has Time Masheen?

On the other hand, Raiden has always been my favorite character. Not in a “gameplay-wise” kind of manner, though I´ve always felt him a solid and competitive character, but because I just think he is really cool 🙂
