Project X Zone is a collaborative strategy RPG crossover game between Capcom, Sega, and Namco Bandi that is being developed by Monolith Software.
Now if the previous sentence was a bunch of unintelligible jargon, all you need to know is that a bunch of awesome characters are being thrown into one game and being developed by very capable hands. The game will feature typical characters like Ryu, Megaman, Akira Yuki, Ulala, and Jin Kazama, but also some of my favorite characters like Reanbell, T-elos, and Hsien-Ko.
Famitsu recently revealed that the game’s developers would be Monolith Software, the developers behind the excellent Xenosaga series and Xenoblade Chronicles, and added more characters to the game’s roster. The most notable of these (at least to me) are Chun-Li, Morrigan, and Nanbu Kaguya from Super Robot Taisen OG Saga. The characters are all represented well with signature moves and emphasis on their best assets. They all come alive in the excellent sprites, and I do love my sprites.
The game is coming out for 3DS and shaping up to be pretty special for nerdy Japanophiles like myself. I don’t have a 3DS but all the fanservice being offered here is enough to drive me to get one. Sadly, there is still no word on a western release and it would be a huge shame if the game were to turn out like Namco X Capcom and stay confined to Japan. For now I guess I’ll just enjoy the screens and videos available till more info is released.
