Bring Onechanbara Z: Kagura to the West

Onechanbara Z Kagura

So if you’ve been following NSFW Gamer you may have heard of a game called Lollipop Chainsaw starring a cheerleader with a chainsaw cutting up zombies. It sounds fun and all but there is always room in my heart for more hot chicks slicing zombies and monsters.

Luckily Onechanbara Z: Kagura’s been hanging out in Japan and it’s filled with all the bikini samurai action to fill the hole in my heart and spice up a year filled with more and more shooters.

Find out more after the jump.

Onechanbara Z Kagura

Z: Kagura is the latest addition the Onechanbara series which is known for zombies, ladies in bikinis, and blood getting all over those ladies in bikinis. I’ll be up front: Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers for Xbox 360 was a downright terrible game. Nearly everything about that game was bad in some way. Controls were clunky and awkward, enemy variety was nonexistent, combat had potential but was unsatisfying. Not to mention that the game looked like an up-scaled PS2 game. So why should you get excited about Z: Kagura?

Onechanbara Z Kagura

Well, dig around for some videos of Z: Kagura and you may get an idea, but Onechanbara, for all its faults had a lot of potential to be a satisfying hack n’ slash game but wasn’t due to flawed execution of its ideas. Then another game came out called Bayonetta and the dev team must have had an epiphany for the direction their game should take. And why not? If you’re gonna copy you might as well copy from the best.

So Z: Kagura looks like it’s revived itself with a fresh direction and style that hopefully lets its previous ideas shine. The gameplay looks much faster and smoother that its predecessor. The character are more detailed and come with three weapons each so that should lead to decent variety. Besides switching between weapons on the fly you can also switch between characters on the fly which was the most interesting part of the last game and looks even better in this game.

So come on D3 Publisher, bring this game to the West. I’m currently craving the Bayonetta play style you seem to be offering over the No More Heroes play style Lollipop Chainsaw will be offering. You don’t even have to dub the voices. I know I may be over hyping this game but if it’s at least as fun to play as looks in the videos and you have good dress up costumes you’ve succeeded in satisfying my guilty pleasure. Just make sure you throw in that dlc bikini you’ve been advertising.
